This speaker was created to test out my skills with woodworking and 3D printing but didn't result in an object of desire. They are large, not easy to transport, and something about the bass ports feels off.

Creating and designing a horn-loaded subwoofer was the next challenge. Of course, mainly inspired by Funktion One, I fiddled around with several Excel sheets that enabled me to calculate the throat size and length of the horn, after which I could model it in 3D and build it.

This project was designed and built on commission for Nachtkantoor, a DJ collective. The sound system was tailored to their specific needs, with requirements for aesthetics, portability, and—of course—the sound quality of the speakers, all within a defined budget.
The process involved a month of designing, rearranging, and experimenting. To enable in-house production of the horns and other plastic components, I acquired a large-format FDM printer and handled the manufacturing myself.

This final project (work in progress) is a version of the Danley Sound Synergy horns. Credits go out to JW Sound for providing plans that I am modifying to fit smaller 5-inch drivers. This should have enough output for home monitoring speakers.
